Character Map for Mac

Do you miss Character Map from Windows?

I used to. Then I discovered there is an equivalent tool for Mac OS.
Very simple to use, but not the most obvious thing in the world.

  • Go to System Preferences, and select Keyboard
  • Tick the box ‘Show Keyboard & Character Viewer in menu bar’

That’s it. Now whenever you need an accented character, click the box in the menu bar with the asterisk in it.
Select show Character Viewer, and you will be able to pick and choose the characters you need.
Job done.
One less reason to go back to Windows!
